Fraud occurs in Capital City. It is a case of a simple trick using a vacant meeting room. However, the case goes unsolved. A year and a half later, the Metropolitan Police get a tip-off call, saying that one of the scammers is married to a rich man in a local town, Konan City, far from Capital City. A detective travels to Konan City, and after four days of stakeout, he arrests the two main culprits of the fraud. Then, the two are held in the detention center in Capital City. Seven days later, the body of the rich man is found in Konan city. He seems to have taken poison in a completely closed room. There is no one at home except him. The Konan Police treat it as a suicide, but one of the Metropolitan Police detectives suspects it to be a murder case.
